OSHA 10 Hour Course

OSHA 10 Hour Training course for construction industry is designed for construction workers, foremen, job supervisors, and anyone involved in the construction industry. This 10 hour course is designed to provide workers with training on construction safety and health. Everyone walks out of this class with useful and practical information that is applicable to their work environment. Emphasis is on identifying common hazards of construction and avoidance, control and prevention of hazard techniques. Topics to be covered are:

· Introduction to OSHA

· General Duty Clause

· Competent Person

· Recordkeeping

· Electrical

· Fall Protection and Prevention

· Personal Protective Equipment

· Material Handling, Storage, use and Disposal

· Hand and Power tools

· Scaffold

· Cranes

· Excavations

· Stairways and Ladders

Other topics specific to the contractor

Class participants will receive a copy of the 29 CFR 1926, an OSHA 10 hour completion card and a certificate of completion.

OSHA 30 Hour Course

The OSHA 30 hour course is an expansion of the OSHA 10 hour course geared toward supervisors and managers. It is a comprehensive four-day training designed to give a thorough understanding of the most important occupational safety and health compliance issues in the construction industry. It provides an increased knowledge of the standards and regulations and offers insight into the more complicated and often confusing elements of the OSHA Act (CFR 1926). The emphasis of the course is placed on the most common causes of work place injuries along with OSHA’s most cited violations. Topics to be covered are:

· Introduction to OSHA Standards

· General Duty Clause

· Recordkeeping

· Competent Person

· OSHA Citations Policy

· Electrical

· Fall Protection

· Hazard Communications

· Fire Protection and Prevention

· Material Handling, Storage, Use and Disposal

FORK LIFT TRAINING

This course covers the training requirements for operating forklifts in construction and general industry. Topics include operator certification requirements, inspection procedures, work safety practices and identification of types of power industrial trucks. This training session will also provide and overview of common exercises used for field evaluations. Field exercise evaluation for operators must be conduced on the model industrial truck used by the operator in the workplace.

ELEVATED PLATFORM TRAINING

This course provides a general overview of the safety measures required when working on elevated platforms. The course begins with an introduction into the various types of elevated platforms and goes on to outline the OSHA safety requirements and safety measures that can be taken to ensure that employees working on elevated platforms are at little risk of injury or death. Topics include erection and dismantling of supported and suspended scaffolding, boom lifts, scissor lifts and the interpretation of related standards. This courses covers the topics included in OSHA 29 CFR 1926.450 Subpart L

TRENCHING AND EXCAVATION TRAINING

This course will address the trenching and excavation current standard requirements, and the roll and qualifications of the Competent Person. Topics include shoring and sloping techniques and requirements, inspections, related equipment most commonly used to provide a safe trench and/or excavation

CRANE AND RIGGING TRAINING

This course is designed for those with the responsibility for mobile crane safety a well as overhead crane safety and rigging safety. Operators, riggers, and supervisors will greatly benefit from the information received. This class will delve into those areas of mobile and overhead crane and rigging safety that could result in accidents when ignored such as shock and dynamic loading, overloading, improper sling selection and installation as well as improper use of lifting tackle.

HAZARDOUS MATERIAL TECHNICIAN TRAINING

This course covers broad issues pertaining to the hazard recognition at work sites. OSHA has developed the HAZWOPER program to protect the workers working at hazardous sites and devised extensive regulations to ensure their safety and health. The class also covers how to use MSDS sheets, where to find necessary information, how to read labels and the different types of affects the chemicals can have.

CONFINED SPACE TRAINING

Confined Space Awareness training is required under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146 and is intended for individuals who work near or in confined spaces. The training includes type of hazards found in confined spaces, types of confined spaces, requirements for entering a confined space, and the purpose and requirements of a written permit. The role of the authorized entrants, authorized attendants, entry supervisors and authorized rescue personnel is also covered.

This training module is not intended to replace workplace-specific training. Training and information on site-specific hazards and confined spaces must be obtained from your supervisor and/ or training department.

CPR & FIRST AID

This course is designed to teach you life saving techniques to be used both on the job and at home. This course teaches rescuer skills in CPR and relief of choking (foreign-body airway obstruction). It presents information about the chain of survival and signs of a heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke and choking in adults. The course also present information on pediatric, infant and child Chain of Survival, signs of choking in infants and children. This course also covers how to treat some of the more common injuries that the students might see such as sprains, strains, fractures and burns.

ELECTRICAL AWARENESS TRAINING

This course provides an overview of safe practices while working with electricity and electrical equipment according to subpart K of the OSHA 1926 manual. Topics include major citations, general electrical requirements and safe work practices along with GFCI policies.

EMPLOYEE ORIENTATION

This course is designed to provide and overview of topics pertinent to the construction industry. Topics can include an overview of OSHA's regulations and responsibilities, fall protection, electrical awareness, PPE, lockout tag out, MSDS and chemical spills, excavation safety and safe lifting technique. This course is a brief outline of the OSHA 10 hour course and can be tailored to your companies needs.

This course is designed to teach the employee how to control hazardous energy in the workplace. The discussion will cover when lockout/ tagout is required. What the procedures for lockout/ tagout are and what personnel need to be notified during a lockout/ tagout.

POWDER ACTUATED TOOL TRAINING

This course is designed to teach the proper use of powder actuated tools. The course will cover the proper loading, proper shot selection and how to identify the proper types of shots, proper disposal of unused shots and the safety requirements for using these tools.
